How to flash JetPack 6.2.x on JetCore (Orin Nano 8GB w/ SSD)?

I received my JetCore carrier board (non-FC) a few days back. Since then I have been trying to get it to work but to no avail.

Here is what I tried:

1. Installed an Nvidia Jetson Orin Nano 8 GB module extracted from my operational Developer Kit Super carrier board along with a 512 GB SSD that was already flashed with Jetpack 6.2 onto the JetCore.

Output: The JetCore did not boot and the screen did not start with all peripherals attached (mouse, keyboard, monitor, etc.).

2. Installed the same module as attempt 1, but formatted the 512 GB SSD and attempted to flash Jetpack 6.2 anew using the SDK Manager from an Ubuntu 24.02 x86-64 laptop (also tried with Ubuntu 22.04 on the same laptop).

Output: The JetCore was recognized in SDK Manager after putting it in Recovery mode. Got an error message “SDK Manager is verifying system readiness to install - APT repository access for Debian package installation (host) - APT repository check failure” to which I selected “Skip Check”, after which it continued flashing, but after a while it failed with no descriptive error message.

Requesting instructions or a solution to flash JetCore (non-FC) with JetPack 6.2.x onto an installed SSD.

Hello,

  1. Can you record a short video of the complete flashing process of JetCore (non-FC) using SDK Manager (from putting the board into recovery mode until the flashing attempt finishes).

  2. Before flashing, please check the SSD and ensure that:

    • All existing partitions on the SSD are deleted

    • The SSD is fully reformatted (single empty device with no remaining partitions)

  3. The error message will be generally located in the terminal bar of the SDK Manager

  4. While powering the JetCore board, please check the LED indications on the carrier board:

    • A blue blinking LED should be visible during power-up / activity

    • A red LED should appear after the boot process

  5. Please also verify the display connection:

    • If your monitor supports VGA + HDMI or DP + HDMI, please try a monitor that supports both VGA and HDMI

    • Connect the JetCore to the monitor using HDMI

    • Please check carefully if any display output appears during boot

Kindly record the above checks (LED behavior and display connection/boot attempt) in the same video and share it with us.

Thank you for your response,

1, 2, 3: Yes, I believe that I have formatted the SSD in the manner that you have described, please verify in the attached video. The error message has also been recorded in the video.

4: LED indications are correct when the board is powered up normally (without force recovery mode, and on a clean, formatted, unflashed SSD). But when I try to restart using the physical reset button on the board as instructed in the docs, the board powers off as expected but does not power back on (regardless of whether the force recovery button is pressed or not). So I have to cycle power by disconnecting the battery. I wonder if thats an issue.

5: Currently using a VGA monitor that is connected via an HDMI to VGA converter. Did not check for output since no bootable media is mounted yet. If required, I can check and send that in another video, let me know.

Please let me know if theres any trouble with the link.

Hello,

Link is working fine. Regarding the reset button, Yes that is not the issue the reset powers of the device and does not power it back on.

According to the video attached, there seems to be an error in the SSD/Jetson device.

Please flash the SSD properly clearing all the partitions and re-flash the Jetson. Let us know if you face any issues afterwards
